The American Kestrel is one of the most strikingly beautiful birds one can encounter in the Mid-Atlantic. The contrast between the beauty of their bright, orangey-blue plumage and the skill and cunning they display in hunting their prey adds to the allure of these smallest of American falcons. On our farm, we partnered with the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Farmland Raptor Project to help provide nesting habitat on the farm. This way, they can rid our orchards of the mice that threaten to girdle the Kingston Black and Wickson apple trees that grew this bold, barrel-aged cider.
